Google Cloud
The Google Cloud Platform (GCP) offers the technological infrastructure on which Google itself runs. Its strengths lie particularly in big data, analytics, and artificial intelligence.
Core Concept
Focus on data-centric services (BigQuery) and state-of-the-art container technology (GKE — Google Kubernetes Engine). GCP is considered technically very elegant and often offers the best tooling for cloud-native development.
Assessment
- Use case: Data-intensive applications, machine learning projects, and organisations wanting to use Kubernetes in its purest form.
- Advantage: Superior data analytics tools, a very fast global network, and good price-to-performance models for compute.
- Limitation: Smaller service portfolio than AWS, and less focus on classic enterprise integrations than Azure.
