Azure is Microsoft's strategic cloud platform. It is the logical extension for all organisations already deeply rooted in the Microsoft world (Windows, Office, AD).
Core Concept
Focus on hybrid cloud scenarios. Azure enables seamless connectivity between on-premises data centres and the cloud. Particularly strong is the integration of identity management (Entra ID).
Assessment
- Use case: Enterprise infrastructure, .NET applications, and organisations with a Microsoft-focused IT strategy.
- Advantage: Excellent integration with existing Microsoft licences, a strong presence in Switzerland (local regions), and good compliance tooling.
- Limitation: The portal configuration (UI) can be confusing; strong dependency on the Microsoft ecosystem.
